The Cleaning Lady - Season 1

The Cleaning Lady is a drama that centers on Thony De La Rosa, formerly a Cambodian-Filipino surgeon who is currently working and living in Las Vegas. Her reason for being in the US on an expired visa is her five-year-old son, Luca. Luca has a rare and life-threatening medical disorder for which he needs a cutting-edge bone marrow treatment, which is only available in Las Vegas. Until she gets treatment for her son, Thony makes a living not as a trained physician but as a cleaning service worker, alongside her sister-in-law, Fiona. After Thony accidentally witnesses a serious crime and is discovered hiding by the perpetrator, Arman Morales, she is offered a job both as a cleaner and a doctor within their criminal organization that could pay well enough to help her son and her family. Crossing into a moral gray zone, Thony begins living a double life, keeping secrets from her family, all the while cleaning up murder scenes and dodging the law.

In March 2020, Shannyn Sossamon, Adan Canto, Ginger Gonzaga, and Vincent Piazza were cast in main roles for the pilot.[34][35][36] However, Sossamon exited the project after the pilot's initial table read.[37] On April 6, 2020, Élodie Yung was cast to replace Sossamon in the lead role. It was announced that the ethnicity of Yung's character would be changed to match Yung's Cambodian background, but that aspects of Filipino culture would still be integrated.[38] On July 2, 2020, Fox extended the cast options for the pilot through September 30, with the previous option having expired on June 30.[39] Due to the pandemic, cast options were extended further on October 2, 2020.[40] Upon the series order announcement, it was publicized that Martha Millan had replaced Gonzaga in the series and that Piazza had dropped out. In addition, twins Sebastien and Valentino LaSalle were also cast in a shared starring role.[29] On July 13, 2021, Oliver Hudson was cast to replace Piazza.[41] On September 21, 2021, Shiva Negar and Jay Mohr joined the cast in recurring roles.[42] On December 14, 2021, Liza Weil and Eva De Dominici were cast in recurring capacities.[43][44] In August 2022, De Dominici was promoted to a series regular, while Chelsea Frei was cast in a recurring role and Naveen Andrews joined as a series regular for the second season.[2][4][3] On September 27, 2022, K.C. Collins joined the cast in a recurring role for the second season.[5]

The first season of The Cleaning Lady premiered on January 3, 2022, and concluded on March 14, 2022, on Fox.[48][49] The second season debuted on September 19, 2022, and finished on December 12, 2022.[50][51]

Thony was tired of taking care of Marco and cleaning up his messes when she needed her priority to be Luca and his surgery. It's no wonder Thony looked so exhausted. Dealing with an addict is tiring, and caring for a sick child on top of that is exhausting.

Thony De La Rosa is a brilliant surgeon from Cambodia (but lived in the Philippines) whose sole mission is to save her immunocompromised son Luca. Out of everyone on the bone marrow transplant list, only one is a match who lives in America, prompting Thony to flee her country with her son leaving her husband behind. Luckily, Thony is able to live with her sister-in-law, Fiona, who is living in America with her children, and together they work for a cleaning company to stay afloat.

By the end of the season, she was deep in the business of the mob, helping to get Arman out of prison while also navigating a dangerous relationship with Garrett Miller (Oliver Hudson), an FBI agent intent on taking down the mob. The season looked closely at Thony and her family's identities as undocumented immigrants, it looked at the fears and realities of what it's like to live undocumented in America, it was also a season heavy with drama with both the mob and Thony's own family.

The Cleaning Lady has never really held back from shocking moments and huge shifts in dynamics. We saw Thony nearly get deported in one episode and then saw her holding $2 million in cryptocurrency in another. This season feels like we're going to be leaning further into storylines with Thony's close family. With Luca in a better medical condition, it feels like we're going to be taking a closer look at Fiona (Martha Millan) and her kids Chris (Sean Lew) and Jaz (Faith Bryant). Obviously, we know that Fiona is Thony's sister-in-law, but this season also lets us meet Fiona and Marco's parents, which clears up some of the dynamics between the family and perhaps gives us insight into why Thony isn't so eager to return home.

The show does feel its most electric when it uses Thony's anonymity to the benefit of Arman's plans, and we get more of that this season. The show introduces Naveen Andrews as Robert Kamdar this season, a dangerous figure who promises to add drama to the story involving the mob. We'll also be seeing more of Nadia (Eva De Dominici), Arman's wife, as De Dominici is promoted to series regular as well.

I would be remiss also not to talk about the chemistry between Thony and Arman, which was electric in the first season. One of Arman's redeeming qualities was how soft his heart was when it came to Thony, going out of his way to help Luca get the treatment he needs. Those sparks have not subsided, with Nadia and Marco's return into their lives. While it's unclear where they stand with each other, it's clear for many people to see that there is something going on with the two characters, and we'll be getting more of that this season.

Having seen the first two episodes of the season, The Cleaning Lady is setting up new conflicts for the season while quickly and efficiently wrapping up some of the larger roadblocks of Season 1. It's clear that we'll be looking more into the case that Garrett previously worked on, as they introduce Maya Campbell (Chelsea Frei) as Garrett's CI and someone that he had a romantic relationship with. Similarly, Andrews' Robert Kamdar presents a new challenge for Arman and Nadia.

It's still way too early to tell the tone of the season, but given how Episode 2 ends, it feels like the show gets back on track and on a new normal. In many ways, the first two episodes feel like an epilogue to the first season and a prologue to the second. There is still a lot of story to tell.

We hope this guide has helped you figure out how to watch this upcoming season and the first season of The Cleaning Lady. Perhaps in season two, she will be able to save her ailing son as she forges her own path between the mob and the FBI.

FOX's episode 1 of The Cleaning Lady season 2 is all set to premiere on Monday, September 19, at 9 pm ET/PT. The trailer for The Cleaning Lady dropped last month and saw Thony in crisis.

(CLICK) So what is it you're hiding, lady? I already know about the antidepressants. Whoa!!!!! A whole empty pizza box under the bed. Oh boy. Extra large for one little lady. And what's this? Root beer cans. Six of them. Okay. I get the picture. 041b061a72
